If you are new to the site, welcome! If you are a follower from years past, thank you for returning. TJS Movie Review is now under new management. After four years of remaining stagnant, it will now be revived. Although the original group is no longer together, the site's name will remain TJS Movie Review. However, you will no longer have ratings exclusively from Tony, Jim, and Sam.
As you have likely noticed, there has been a massive design overhaul as the site has been reconstructed from the ground up to correct code errors and establish an easier-to-maintain design. Given the task at hand, please forgive us for not adding new movies as qucikly as before. We are in the process of constructing new pages for all of the movies already in the database and have completed up to E at this time.
Accompanying the managment, there will also be the following changes:
The poll for which movie to see has been removed from the main page and given its own section. Here, not only will you be able to vote, but also view past results as they accumulate starting with the changeover. Furthermore, we no longer depend on a third party website for the poll service, which created issues when the original provider's website closed up shop.
There will still be three ratings per movie, but from a mixture of raters. There will still be ratings from Jim and Sam depending on if they saw the movie, but do not be surprised to see the names Nick, Krysty, Eric, Jaime, or Riyath.
Due to the current economic conditions, it is no longer feasible to spend $50 to $100 a week on going to the cinema. This is true for us as well as many others across the nation, therefore, we will no longer be able to offer you a new movie every week. In an attempt to make up for this unfortunate circumstance, we are offering a different perspective. While many people have used the site in the past to choose a movie to see at the theater, many have also used it to choose a DVD purchase/rental or a Pay-Per-View decision.
We will be proceeding with this concept in order to keep new additions being made to the website by turning to our collective DVD archives. In the hundreds upon hundreds of movies from this list, there are most of the movies already listed on this site in addition to a vast amount more. While these may not be the blockbuster movies that lay claim to box office fame, there are numerous gems that were silently released that can be picked up for only a few dollars and amazing classics that many have forgotten or (for those who are younger) never heard about.
Surely you have heard about Netflix. If you haven't, it is the world's largest online movie rental service. Members can, for a low monthly fee, instantly watch unlimited movies or TV episodes streamed to their TVs and computers and can receive unlimited DVDs delivered quickly to their homes without the worry of late fees or due dates. We will be utilizing this great service to acquire more movies to watch for review at a lower cost. You can then check our review and the reviews of other Netflix users before you rent it from Netflix yourself. For convenience, the movies we watch from Netflix will be marked in the list by this icon: .
Lastly, we are also looking at joining the Netflix affiliate program to help off set the cost of running the website while at the same time pointing out a relevant service. Once we have done this, you will be able to sign up for Netflix via a banner link on this website.
