| Taking place roughly a decade in the future, Daybreakers offers a glipse into what the world would be like if vampires were the dominant population. As the humans dwindle in numbers, the blood shortage takes on a new level of urgency. A substitute must be created before the population converts entirely into subsiders (more like monsterous vampires) and only Edward Dalton, a vampire hematologist, can create it. The plot seems promising, but the movie does not follow through entirely. The gore aspect was present in ample supply, but there were only a handful of shock scenes and something was simply lacking by the end. |
